Got Questions? Here are a number of frequently-asked questions that we get:
How much personal time will it take? In addition to weekly rehearsals throughout the year, there are 2 annual shows in August and December. We also participate in a Sweet Adelines regional competition in March or April each year, and have an annual weekend retreat to focus on preparing for competition. We tend to perform in and around our area about 2-4 times per year for local festivals, business events, charitable events, as well as participating in Christmas and arts festival events.
What is the audition procedure? The audition procedure is really quite simple. You have plenty of opportunity to "get it right." Click here to see our audition procedure in detail.
Do I have to be a great singer? No, not a great singer, however you do have to be able to carry your part in an ensemble format. But we guarantee that through membership in our organization you will continually improve your vocal skills. Sweet Adelines is a music education organization, and every rehearsal is like a mini-voice lesson. At least 30 minutes of each rehearsal is devoted to vocal instruction and ensemble techniques.
How do I learn the songs? Although it is helpful to be able to read music, it is not necessary. We also post Learning Tracks in our Members Only Section of our website. These can be played online or downloaded to your personal computer, iPhone, or mp3 player. These Learning Tracks come in full mix and individual part only tracks. Learning music is easy and convenient!
